Wilson Language System

The Wilson Language System is a comprehensive, structured literacy program designed to help children with reading and spelling difficulties, especially those with dyslexia. This program uses a multisensory approach, meaning it engages the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic senses to help children process and retain information. Wilson focuses on teaching the relationships between sounds and letters, breaking words into smaller parts, and providing plenty of opportunities for practice. It’s widely used in schools and has proven to significantly improve reading and spelling skills for students with learning disabilities.

Key Benefits:

  • Structured, systematic, and cumulative lessons

  • Multisensory teaching methods (hearing, seeing, touching)

  • Intensive and individualized instruction, tailored to each student’s pace

Lindamood-Bell Programs

Lindamood-Bell offers a variety of programs designed to improve reading, comprehension, and language processing. The LiPS® (Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing) program helps children with dyslexia by teaching them to recognize and manipulate sounds in words, which is key to improving their reading and spelling abilities. Another popular program is Seeing Stars®, which focuses on developing the ability to recognize and remember words. Lindamood-Bell programs are intensive, personalized, and use multisensory techniques to engage children in the learning process.

Key Benefits:

  • Proven success with children who struggle with reading and language processing

  • Multisensory and intensive approach to build reading and comprehension skills

  • Customized lessons that can be adapted to each child’s individual learning pace

Orton-Gillingham Approach

The Orton-Gillingham approach is a research-based, structured literacy method that is especially effective for children with dyslexia. It involves explicit instruction in phonemic awareness (the ability to hear and manipulate sounds in words), decoding (sounding out words), and encoding (spelling). Teachers trained in this method use multisensory techniques to help students connect sounds to letters and practice skills through reading, writing, and speaking

Key Benefits:

  • Highly structured, systematic, and individualized

  • Multisensory, making it easier for students to understand and remember concepts
